Country singer LeAnn Rimes wasn’t sending out hearts and flowers this Valentine’s Day; instead, she lodged a lawsuit against her dentist complaining that his dental work was so bad as to damage her career.

The singer’s suit alleges that her dentist, Dr. Duane C. McKay, misdiagnosed her dental problems and treated her by improperly installing veneers and crowns that caused "severe tooth pain, gum inflammation and chronic gum bleeding." The suit notes that in the past three years, Rimes underwent nine root canals, physical therapy, bone grafting, and temporary bridgework. In October, she griped on Twitter, "I feel like I got hit in my right side of my face with a baseball bat."

As a result of these painfully botched procedures, the two-time Grammy winner was forced to cancel a number of performances. After a series of cancellations in October, she wrote on her website, “I’ve been living in a dental nightmare for 10 months. I’m getting back on track though, I hope. I’ve had too many detours this year due to dental issues.”

Due to these cancellations and supposed damaged to her appearance, Rimes is suing for “loss of earnings and future earning capacity” as well as physical, emotional, and psychiatric damages. She alleges that her "ability to perform as an artist has been and will continue to be significantly compromised until all re-treatment is complete."
