Paris Hilton is sure doing damage control after her short conversation with a New York City cab driver from two weeks ago was released, in which revealed how Paris felt about 'gay guys.'
According to reports, Paris was riding the cab along with "an openly gay male model" during New York Fashion Week on September 7th, RadarOnline reported.
The Hollywood socialite called gay men "disgusting," and that they were "the horniest people in the world," and to add fuel to the fire, Ms. Hilton added that "most of them probably have AIDS."
Her reps jumped quick to respond to the controversy yesterday, claiming it was just a big miscommunication. Paris' comments about gay men who use cell phone apps for sexual hook ups were simply "expressions of concern about the dangers of unprotected sex, not homophobic slurs," reports CNN.
It is still unclear as to who the cab driver is, or how much, if at all, he was paid for releasing the recording. Her publicist confirmed that the female in the conversation was indeed Paris, and told CNN:
"It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone's sexual orientation."
The gay male model, Paris' friend, had been showing her an iPhone app called Grindr in which connects local gay men who can then meet up with each other. After learning about the app, Paris was quick to voice how she felt about it, saying "I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You'll like, die of AIDS."
