Good news for you Mocha Lovin’ iPhone addicts — the new iPhone 5 will be up for pre-order today at Wal-Mart for $189. The retail mega-store is selling the 16 GB version $10 less than its competitors and will begin at 8 a.m. PDT. The deal however, is only available if the customer starts a new two-year contract with either AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.
Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will also be selling the iPhone 5, but instead for $199 with a two-year service plan. Apple, AT&T, and Sprint’s pre-orders begin today as well, starting at 12:01 am, and Verizon’s pre-orders started last night at 12:00 a.m.
Wal-Mart also states that those who wish to pre-order must come in person and find a store that will carry the device to do so. A $25 deposit is also required towards the purchase and in return, Wal-Mart will hand out reservation cards for customers to keep until the phone releases.
Apple has upgraded its technological skills and made the phone thinner. The new device will be taller and lighter than the iPhone 4S, and also with a bigger screen. (It will now be 4 inches unlike the iPhone 4s which is 3.5 inches). For all you techie-junkies out there, you know what that means — bigger screen, better widescreen video display. According to reports, another big advancement is that the new phone will connect to the fastest new wireless data networks in the U.S. and overseas.
The iPhone is set to hit store September 21, 2012, so mark your calendars Mocha Lovers.
Will you be waiting in line once the iPhone hype begins next week? As mentioned before, it was estimated by JPMorgan’s lead economist who theorized that the release of the new iPhone 5 will boost the country’s economic status.
