The rumor mill has been churning over whether Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, his wife of five years, are really splitting up. Well, the answer is YES--because Katie's lawyers have officially confirmed the news, according to Ace Showbiz.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," said Katie's attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, in a statement reported by Ace Showbiz. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

Unfortunately, lawyers released no further details about the divorce.

The Hollywood pair got married in November of 2006. It was Tom Cruise's third marriage, because remember: he'd been married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman previously.
