Lee Daniels’ upcoming film, ‘The Paperboy,’ stars Nicole Kidman, and was shown at Cannes Film Festival. The film was slammed with a ton of negative reviews.
Actress Michelle Rodriguez, on the contrary, loved the film. She especially loved Nicole Kidman’s performance in the film as a “wacko, white trash, slut,” as Shadow & Act reports, but she insisted that Kidman has no chance of winning or being nominated for an Oscar for her role, BECAUSE, get this: you need to be “trashy and black” to get nominated for an Oscar. *blank stare*
Here are Michelle’s exact words below:
“I f—g loved it. One of my friends said, ‘[Nicole Kidman’s] going to get nominated for an Oscar for that.’ I was like, ‘Nah, man. She’s not black!’ I laugh, but it’s also very sad. It makes me want to cry. But I really believe. You have to be trashy and black to get nominated. You can’t just be trashy.”
What do you think? Is this truth or is it madness or both? What is going on, America? For more on this erm…opinion, check out Vulture here, or Shadow & Act here; and please…feel free to share your thoughts below!
